You’re probably here because you want to learn a little more about me.

Hi, I'm Sue. I am a Daughter, Sister, Mother, Grandmother, Partner, Ex-wife, Friend, Colleague, Boss, Leader, Employee, Student…

For most of my adult life, I did what so many of us do, I kept everything running for everyone else. I was capable, responsible, and strong on the outside. But underneath, I was slowly disconnecting from myself.

Like many people, I faced my share of challenges, health issues, parenting struggles, and the weight of responsibility. At the time, I just saw it all as bad luck and soldiered on. I didn’t stop to look at the bigger picture or how it was affecting me. I thought resilience meant pushing harder. But life has a way of sending lessons back until you’re ready to face them.

In August 2019, I decided to take on a 90-day alcohol-free challenge. It wasn’t about hitting rock bottom. It was just a quiet voice inside me saying: try something different. That decision became the catalyst for everything.

I started to see things differently. Instead of just surviving on auto pilot, I began asking new questions. I invested in myself, through journaling, coaching, counselling skills, health, and fitness, and slowly built a new foundation. I discovered self-awareness, self-compassion, and a strength that came not from pretending everything was fine, but from finally being honest with myself.

The biggest shift?
I stopped seeing resilience as “just carrying on.” Real resilience, I learned, is about building a better relationship with yourself, one where you pause, reflect, and realign, no matter what life throws your way.

And here’s what I’ve learned along the way: transformation is not about giving things up or living by someone else’s rulebook.

It’s about becoming aware of what works for you and what doesn’t. I still love a night out, a dance, a rave, and indulgent food.

I also love nutritious food, the gym, and long walks. The difference is, I now choose them all intentionally and without guilt. Nothing is off-limits; it’s about alignment, not sacrifice.

That’s what led me to create Sue Stubbs Coaching and The PIER Method. It grew from my lived experiences, my professional career leading and supporting teams, my coaching and counselling qualifications, and most of all, my love for helping people. Over the years, I’ve realised my gift is being that support, the person who listens, understands, and helps others see new possibilities in themselves. But life has a way of sending lessons back until you’re ready to face them.
